Siri Sending Text to "NULL"

When I say, "Siri, text my wife, 'X'," Siri responds correctly with, "Here's your message to Jill: 'X'. Ready to send it?" I say, "Yes", and the message sends. Immediately I get a text from my carrier saying the message recipient was invalid. 100% of the time, I see that Siri has sent a text to NULL.

I've tried restarting my phone. I've tried deleting and re-adding my contacts. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to resolve it?

I'm confident it isn't a carrier thing, because the carrier isn't the one sending a text message to NULL. Siri, despite getting the dictation and recipient correct in the initial conversation, fails to send the iMessage to the correct contact number. I found this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/watchOSBeta/comments/50li1c/bugsiri_sending_texts_to_nu ll/) where a Watch user is experiencing the same issue, but no information on iPhone users having this problem.

Hey Mate,

I've had this problem too since the latest iOS9 update.
I was hoping the iOS 10 update this morning was going to fix it but I've had no luck.

I've seen in other threads that people have had luck changing their language settings to something else and then returning it to the correct one.

Settings > General > Language & Region.

This did not work for me, but try it yourself.

Same issue. Happened after the 9.3.5 update. I updated to 10.0.1 and no change.

However, I was able to fix this issue it by doing a Backup/Restore on my phone from the iTunes desktop app. I restored the phone first as a New iPhone. I added a couple of contacts, sent some text messages through Siri and it worked fine. I then did a Restore from the Backup done through iTunes, signed in with my AppleID, sent some more texts through Siri and everything worked normally.

This seems akin to going after a fly with a bazooka, but it seems to have worked. Maybe it has something to do with the iCloud Contacts backup that was done for the 9.3.5 update. Hope this helps!

I've been having this problem too since I upgraded to iOS 10. Here's what finally worked for me:

Deleted Facebook

Deleted Facebook Messenger

Settings -> Contacts -> Contacts Found in Apps -> Turned it off

Settings -> Contacts -> Accounts -> Turned off contacts from all accounts but my iCloud account.

I reinstalled Facebook and Facebook Messenger, but didn't allow Messenger to integrate with my iPhone contacts. It's been working fine for me now.
